In terms of sporting events in Peterborough the main game is football as you would expect. Peterborough United Football Club is the home team and play in the Championship League. They were founded in 1934 and their nick name is The Posh. They play their home games in the London Road stadium and been located in this very stadium since their formation. The capacity of the stadium is around sixteen thousand and the time of writing it has been proposed that the team will move to a new stadium which will seat over twenty one thousand people. The current stadium has four stands which are Main, London Road, Norwich and Moy’s End.
The next biggest game has to be cricket, but it has to be said that they do not have a country level team. In the past the city has hosted many cricket matches.
It has its own ice hockey team which is under Peterborough Phantoms and other sports such as motorsport and rugby is also present in the city.
